One in four women: Not actually raped!
(Ps This is why I don’t have friends. Fact checking doesn’t make me too popular)
The comic didn’t say 1 in 4 college women it said 1 in 4 women, and your stats don’t mention all the women who don’t report their assault, many women don’t report so it could actually be higher. Also, even if the statistics are lower how does that change the message of the comic? If it were 1 in 100 that would make it okay? The fact is women, and LGBTQ+ people suffer sexual assault and harassment waaay more than men do.
I’m not arguing or denying the message in this image. I think it’s a good message. Body image is a serious issue for both genders. However the comic starts (well, third panel) with a misleading statistic. The only time I have ever seen that 1/4 was in that questionable college statistic.
As far as men not getting raped, I’m not defending rape or anything. It’s not OK at ANY level. I think gender equality is awesome. But that being said, if you find yourself agreeing with that statement (and the comic above) and don’t know what the word misandry is, then you have some reading to do.
You are seriously comparing misogyny and misandry? I cannot believe that. Really??? Women make less per dollar than men, WOC make even less, women were not allowed to own property or benefit from insurance, or even vote until the 20th century. Women are systematically treated like second class citizens and we have even been barraged with legislature that would hinder and even take away our reproductive rights and you are going to hold up misandry? Yeah not even close to the same thing.
Can you help me? I lost my friend.
